The Process

Make a reservation by calling us

BIRD TRANSPORTATION

​

Some options include covered trailers, wood boxes with ventilation, animal crates, poultry crates etc. 

​

NO CARDBOARD BOXES PLEASE

*Let us know if you need help with other ideas for transportation. 

*We do have limited poultry crates on loan, check availability at registration.

DROP OFF

Drop off is between 6:00 - 8:00 am. the day of butchering.

*unless a "Night before" drop off was arranged & verified.

We begin processing at 8:00am. 

Please fill out a customer order form upon arrival & leave caged birds at the drop center at the red barn.

Feed Withdraw & Crate:

​

We recommend removing feed 15 hours in advance of your appointment but no later than 12 hours. Birds who have not had feed withdrawn will have full crops & full intestines. This means extra work & is a possible contamination risk. 

​

*A $100 penalty will be added to each order that brings in birds with full crops. Please see all of our disclaimer

BIRD TRANSPORTATION RISKS

​

When loading your birds, it is very important to catch and load in the calmest manner possible. At night or early morning while they roost is best. Always pick up and hold by the body or feet. 

Improper loading can result in bruising, broken bones, smothering, heat stress & escape.

PICK UP

Bring coolers, boxes or other transportation means for your meat.

We do supply ice!

Pick up time between 4:00 - 6:00 pm.

DISCLAIMERS

There is a $100 minimum charge regardless of the # of birds.

We reserve the right to refuse services to anyone for any reason. 

​

Dirty breasted & dirty keeled birds will be processed last to avoid cross contamination.

​

We uphold humane & sanitary butcher conditions. No ill-treatment of animals will be tolerated.

There is no long-term storage solutions on farm. Any products picked up late will be fined and tagged if they went over a holding temp of 40

degrees. We can not guarantee the optimal holding requirements if picked up late. 

​

There is a $100 charge for sanitation & disposal IF you bring diseased or sick animals.

​

There is a $100 charge/ appointment for birds with full crops.
